One Direction: A Fan Story

Project

"One Direction: A Fan Story" is an eight-part BBC Sounds podcast series that dives deep into the cultural phenomenon that is One Direction. It seeks to understand the band's profound influence on global fandom, internet culture, and even the individual band members themselves. The series poses questions that go beyond the music, exploring how the band and its fandom have forever shaped the digital landscape.

For this project, my role was to design the podcast cover artwork, drawing inspiration from One Direction's iconic film covers, "This Is Us" and "Where We Are." Taking a modern design approach, I experimented with generative art techniques using AI to help craft the backdrop of the artwork. The final design interweaves the luminescence of stadium lights with the ethereal glow of a starlit sky, encapsulating both the grandeur of the band's live performances and their transformative influence on popular culture.
